The content of this course is both artistic and technical. Supported by lectures and tutorials on the the history of Video, Film, and Performance, I approach the medium from various scales (the shot, sequence) and components (audio, video, pov).
With a particular emphasis on the concept of narrative construction, I ask that the students to interrogate how sound, image, montage can create meaning. For this project, the students start with a photo-roman, progress to a single long-shot video narrative, and then re-interpret sequences from film classics, always with notions of the digital in mind.
